What we do on commercial sites

Most of our week is commercial and industrial work. That's not a claim about size, it's a description of the jobs: tenancy fit-outs where the electrical scope runs from the main switchboard to the last GPO in the joinery, lighting upgrades across whole floors, distribution board additions when a business outgrows its supply, and the maintenance contracts that keep all of it compliant afterwards.

  • Tenancy and office fit-outs. Power and data to workstations, meeting rooms and kitchens, lighting to the layout, exit and emergency lighting, and a switchboard that has room for what comes next.
  • Retail and hospitality. Display and feature lighting, 3-phase for kitchens and cool rooms, and the after-hours access windows retail landlords insist on.
  • Distribution boards and switchboards. New boards, upgrades, subcircuit additions, RCD protection across the board, and load calculations before anything is added.
  • Lighting. LED upgrades, high-bay, external and car park lighting, emergency and exit lighting to AS 2293.
  • Data and communications. Structured cabling, comms racks and the pathways between them, done at the same time as the power so nothing gets opened twice.
  • Testing, commissioning and certification. Every circuit tested, every result recorded, and the certificate of compliance issued before handover.

Why commercial contractors and facility managers use us

A commercial job fails on coordination more often than on electrical skill. The sparky who is excellent in a house can still hold up a fit-out because there's 1 of them, they start at 8, and they haven't run a programme against 6 other trades. Our answer to that is structural: a team of 12, a 6am start, a single point of contact in the office, and a habit of telling you what we found before we tell you what it costs.

Our customers describe it the same way we do. 1 of them, who has used us for domestic and commercial work for years, put it as "professionalism, advice, workmanship and pricing second to none". That's the standard we're held to, and you can read every review on our Google profile.

Sectors we work in most

Commercial covers a lot. The sectors we're set up for are modular building manufacturers, health and medical practices including body-protected areas, schools, commercial builders and contractors who need an electrical subcontractor with project capability, and manufacturing and warehousing. Each has its own page because each has its own rules.

How a commercial job runs with us

  • Site visit and scope. We walk the site, check the existing supply and board capacity, and confirm what the drawings assume against what's actually in the ceiling.
  • Written quote. Scope, exclusions, staging and price in writing. If the board can't take the extra load, the quote says so up front, not at variation time.
  • Programme. We slot into the builder's programme, or set one with you if we're the lead trade.
  • Rough-in, fit-off, test, commission. With results recorded circuit by circuit.
  • Certificate of compliance and handover. Plus the as-built information your facilities team will want in 2 years when someone asks which breaker feeds the server room.

Where we do commercial work

Across metro Adelaide within about 30km of the CBD, with most of our commercial work in the western and inner-western suburbs: the industrial belt around Port Adelaide, Ottoway and Athol Park, the commercial strips through Hindmarsh, Thebarton and Mile End, and the retail and medical precincts around Woodville and Findon.

FAQs

Commercial electrician questions

Do you do the whole electrical scope on a fit-out, or just parts of it?

The whole scope. Switchboard and distribution, subcircuits, power, lighting, emergency lighting, data, testing, commissioning and the certificate of compliance. If a specialist item sits outside electrical, such as fire indicator panels or mechanical controls, we coordinate with that trade rather than pretend it's ours.

Can you work around a trading business?

Yes. We start at 6am Monday to Friday, which covers most before-opening windows, and out-of-hours work is arranged by agreement for sites that can't be touched during the day. Tell us the constraint and we'll plan the staging around it.

Will you quote from drawings?

We'll give an indicative range from drawings, but a fixed quote needs a site visit. Ceilings, existing boards and supply capacity are where fit-out quotes go wrong, and none of that is on a plan. The visit is free.

Are you licensed and insured for commercial work?

Yes. SA electrical contractor licence PGE355384, NECA member, $20 million public liability and workers compensation. All of it is available in writing for your induction paperwork.

How many electricians can you put on a job?

We have 12. On a fit-out that usually means 2 or 3 crews across rough-in and fit-off, scaled to the programme rather than to what 1 van can carry.
