The western suburbs aren’t one place electrically. Twenty minutes’ drive covers 1880s villas, 1950s Housing Trust estates, canal-front homes and heavy industry, and each of them fails in its own way and needs its own fixes. Here is how we think about it.
Inner west: heritage stock, warehouse conversions and commercial strips
Federation and interwar homes with original wiring still in service, warehouse-to-apartment conversions, and the commercial strips along Port Road, South Road and Henley Beach Road.

Western plains: post-war homes, small boards, knock-down rebuilds
1950s to 1970s brick homes and former Housing Trust stock, single-phase boards now carrying split systems and induction cooktops, and a steady run of knock-down rebuilds needing new consumer mains.

Coastal: salt air, outdoor fittings, holiday rentals and apartments
Salt-air corrosion on outdoor GPOs, meter boxes and switchboard enclosures, canal and lakeside homes with pumps, esplanade apartments with shared risers, and holiday rentals that need to be compliant.

Port industrial belt: factories, depots, 3-phase and shutdown work
Factories, workshops, transport depots and warehouses on 3-phase supply, alongside older worker housing being renewed. This is where the commercial and industrial work actually lands.

Why a local electrician matters here
Response time is the obvious reason: a fault in Findon gets an electrician from Allenby Gardens, not from the other side of the city. The less obvious reason is pattern recognition. We’ve opened enough 1960s switchboards on the western plains, enough corroded meter boxes on the Esplanade and enough main boards in Wingfield to know what we’re going to find before the cover comes off. That’s what makes the quote accurate and the job quick.
Commercial and industrial in the west
The port belt is Adelaide’s industrial heartland and it’s where most of our industrial work is. The inner west and the retail strips carry our commercial fit-outs. Woodville’s hospital precinct and Findon’s campuses carry our medical and school work. It’s a compact patch with an unusual amount of variety, and it’s ours.
