Electrical work in Lockleys
Lockleys was built out a little later and a little bigger than its neighbours, and a lot of its 1960s and 70s homes are being extended rather than knocked down. An extension is where the board and consumer mains get tested: a second storey with 3 bedrooms and a bathroom, a new kitchen with induction, and ducted air conditioning across the whole house all land on a supply sized for the original 3-bedroom home. We check capacity at the planning stage and upgrade the switchboard and mains as part of the build, not as a surprise mid-way.
Pools, sheds, workshops and garden lighting are common on Lockleys blocks, and outdoor circuits are the area where we find the most non-compliant work: unprotected circuits, undersized cable to sheds, and pool equipment on circuits without the RCD protection the rules require. Fixing it properly is not expensive, and the alternative is a real hazard around water.
