Electrical work in Allenby Gardens
Being based here means we know the housing stock from the inside. Most Allenby Gardens homes went up between the early 1950s and the late 60s: solid brick, tiled roofs, and an electrical installation that was excellent for 1958 and has been asked to do a lot since. The typical board is small, has no RCD protection on the original circuits, and quite often has an asbestos-cement backing panel. The typical wiring is first-generation TPS, which is generally sound but has been extended, joined and spliced by a dozen hands over 60 years.
The suburb is changing fast. Knock-down rebuilds and townhouse developments are common on the larger blocks, which means new consumer mains, new boards, 3-phase for bigger air conditioning, and the certificate of compliance at the end. We do a lot of residential work here for that reason, and a lot of switchboard upgrades on the homes that are staying.
