Industrial work we do

  • Fault finding and breakdown response. Tripping circuits, motor faults, control faults, supply issues. We find the cause, not just the symptom, and tell you what it means for the rest of the installation.
  • Machinery and plant connections. 3-phase supply, isolators, motor control, VSDs, and the load checks that stop a new machine from tripping the board it was connected to.
  • Main switchboards and distribution. New boards, upgrades, submains, heavy copper terminations and the testing and labelling that go with them.
  • Preventative maintenance. Thermal imaging of boards, RCD testing, emergency lighting, connection tightness and the compliance reporting your insurer and auditor ask for.
  • Planned shutdowns. Board changeovers, submain replacements and upgrades that can only happen when the plant is off, done to a plan with a crew sized to the window.
  • Lighting at height. High-bay and external lighting off lifts, with our commercial lighting team.

The difference between an industrial electrician and a good domestic one

It's not the licence. It's what you've seen. An electrician who has terminated heavy copper into a main switchboard, worked out why a 3-phase motor is drawing unevenly, and run a board changeover inside a 10-hour shutdown window has a different set of instincts from 1 who has spent 15 years doing houses well. The photo above is 1 of our electricians heat shrinking terminations on a main board. That's the work.

Modular and manufactured buildings

A large part of our industrial work is inside factories that build things: modular building manufacturers in particular, where we do the complete electrical fit-out of each unit in the factory, test and certify it, then complete the site interconnection when the unit lands. It's production-line electrical work with a compliance certificate at the end of every unit.

Where the industrial work is

Adelaide's industrial belt runs through the western and north-western suburbs and that's where most of our industrial customers are: Port Adelaide, Ottoway, Rosewater, Athol Park, Mansfield Park and the Wingfield and Regency Park estates beside them. We cover the rest of metro Adelaide within about 30km of the CBD.

FAQs

Industrial electrician questions

Can you attend an industrial breakdown today?

Call us. Our electricians are on the road from 6am Monday to Friday, and we prioritise production faults over scheduled work where we can. Out of hours attendance is by agreement, so if your plant runs nights or weekends, set that up with us in advance rather than at 2am.

Do you work on 3-phase and main switchboards?

Yes. Main boards, submains, distribution boards, heavy terminations and 3-phase machinery connections are core industrial work for us, along with the testing and labelling that has to go with them.

How do you handle a planned shutdown?

We scope it on site well ahead, agree the sequence and the window, and staff it with as many electricians as the plan needs, which is the point of having 10. The goal is that the plant restarts on time with everything tested and recorded.

Do you provide compliance documentation for industrial sites?

Yes. Certificates of compliance for new work, and RCD, emergency lighting and thermal imaging reports for maintenance, formatted so your safety officer or insurer can file them.

Line down, or a shutdown to plan?

Urgent faults get a call back, not a form. Planned work gets a site visit and a written scope.
